Hello Everyone,

Let me start by wishing all of you a happy new year. I hope all of you had a great holiday season with your family and friends. It seems like this time of year flies by much too quickly. I always find myself wondering where the time has gone.

For the next couple of months, I will be rebuilding my website and blog. I am doing it all myself, so we'll see how things go! If you try to visit my website and nothing is there, don't give up on me! I'll be back up and running as soon as possible with a new and improved alydart.com! The new website will have a completely new look and design along with new prices, packages, and products. I'm really looking forward to all of you seeing the makeover!

The new website will have several new features to make things easier for you and for me. Password protected galleries with a shopping cart to make you purchases online, as well as an interactive calendar are just a few of the new features.

These are two of my favorite kids in the whole world. Their mommy and I have been the best of friends for a long, long time and we happen to share a birthday, too. Not just the date on the calendar, but the actual birth "day." Our mothers labored together, but her mom was a little faster than mine! I was born a few minutes later and who knew we'd end up to be life long friends. There's not too many people that you just click with on this earth, and she's one of those for me. It's strange that as you get older, you don't spend nearly as much time with your friends because of the demands of family and life in general, but somehow, good friends just get better and better. The fort has been the place of choice this fall for family shoots. I love shooting there because there is such beautiful architecture and I love brick! There is always great light there, as well. This little girl loved the water more than any kid I've ever seen! She seriously sprinted to the water and went right in. EVERY other kid I've ever photographed runs to the water then stops and slowly puts their toes in. Not this little one! Her parents warned me that she loves the water and has no fear, but I had no idea! She was so cute and so much fun. Enjoy the preview.

I have done several shoots lately down at Cedar Island Beach and it is the most beautiful place. This family was so cute. I was able to catch some great moments between the two boys. They were really well behaved and so sweet. Their sister is gorgeous and her baby is as cute as they come. All of them were a joy to be around.

I tried a few different looks in the editing of these. I'm not sure what look I like best, but it was fun to play :)

I've decided to start titling each post with the type of session and the location of the shoot. I'm running out of catchy titles! I'm still going to day a little about each session.

This senior girl came from Pitt County for a 8:00 am shoot! We had a great time traveling all around Morehead and Atlantic Beach. She is a super-athlete! She plays softball and volleyball, but she also dances. I could tell she is a well-rounded girl. She and I had some matching scars from softball wounds. As we talked about how busy she is, I remembered my high school days and running from one practice to the next while trying to balance academics, seminary, softball, band, drama, chorus, student council, etc, etc. It exhausted me just thinking about it! I am amazed by high school kids these days and how they keep it all together! I could tell her mom was proud, as she should be! Enjoy the preview.

Look how cute this little one's outfit is! I just loved the little ladybugs. She was so cute and a little camera shy, but so much fun. I try to imagine what it would be like to be so small and to have a stranger follow me around for an hour saying my name over and over again and pointing a big black thing at me! Brother and Sister

So, this entire shoot with a brother and sister, I kept wanting to pose them as a couple like I was at an engagement shoot! Every idea I had, I'd think, "Would that be too lovey dovey?" They were good sports and we had a lot of fun. I found out that they are both very musically talented and she even plays the oboe! For those of you who didn't know me in my pre-mother, pre-photography days, I used to play the oboe. And he went to the ECU School of Music, where my two older sisters basically lived for their four years of college, so I spent lots of time there waiting for them during my freshman year.

This is Where I've Been...

And I had a fabulous time! We've been traveling a lot this summer, but this trip was the best of all! Kyle and I got to be with both of our families for a week and celebrate with my brother and his beautiful bride. Here's a few images from the trip.

On another note, if you are waiting for proof galleries, previews, orders, storyboards, or anything else from Aly Dart Photography, thanks for being so patient. I have found that being a wife, mom, sister, soccer coach, and photographer, can be a little overwhelming. I am EXTREMELY behind, and I realize that you all want your stuff ASAP. I'm working hard today to place orders and get some previews ready. Tonight and tomorrow I hope to get some full edits done and posted.

This summer, I have taken on more sessions than ever before, I have been busier with normal life than ever before, and I've had one more child than I have in previous summers. After my current calendar is done, I will be taking a little break, then launching a new and improved Alyson Dart Photography. I will be booking fewer sessions and my prices will be adjusted with new packages. It seems that I have been so busy lately that I feel like I'm at a creative standstill! I'm going to cut back in hopes that I will be able to give a better quality "Aly" to my clients, and most importantly, my family.

A New Favorite

Lately, it is really starting to feel like summer when I'm out on a shoot. It's hot, hot, hot, even early in the morning, and the mosquitoes are out in full force! This is my brother, Mike, and his fiance, Shiann. He's the last Hancock to be married off. He's found a wonderful girl and they are great together. I enjoyed our mini photo shoot. It's strange to photograph adults for me because I work with children so often, but I enjoy occasional "mature" session. I always have so many ideas, so it's nice to have some test subjects! This family was so cute and so much fun. Each of the children had their own, very distinct personality. This group shot is a perfect description of how each of them were to photograph. The youngest boy was so mild and sweet. The only girl in the crew could definitely hold her own with her three brothers. She was a little ball of energy. The oldest was so obedient to everything I asked of him. He would move exactly when I said move, and smile exactly when I said smile. The last little fella was so cute and reminded me of my son, Zac. He plays soccer, runs track, play percussion in the band, and is going to college at one of the best schools in the country. He has it narrowed down to three schools and all three are wonderful. Not to mention, he's polite and handsome. Mom and Dad have a lot to be proud of!

For this shoot I decided to go out on th beach before going up into the fort. I'm glad I did because once we went into the fort, there were huge puddles down inside the mote from the rain the day before. This little guy thought the puddles looked pretty inviting! 2008 Holiday Cards

Introducing... my 2008 Holiday Card Collection. I wish I could claim them as my own design, but I cannot! I was too tired and overwhelmed with new baby stuff to design this year, so I purchased the templates. These are all totally customizable to your needs as far as which images you want and the personal message, but the overall design cannot be altered.

Each card is available as a 5x7 two-sided press printed card with envelopes included. Each card is also available as a 5x7, folded, "traditional card" that opens with a message and images inside. These also include envelopes.

Busy Day

I've been editing all day, but I thought this cute family was a good way to end the evening! Aren't these kids gorgeous. I want this little gal's hair! This little fellow loves KISS and kept giving the Gene Simmons look to me! It was hilarious. I got some good shots of that!

I thnk most of you know that I finally had my baby on September 22. He is such a sweet baby and we are thoroughly enjoying having him around. I've had a couple of weeks to recuperate, so now it's back to the editing! I wasn't really able to edit my last few weeks of pregnancy, so I've got lots of catching up to do. I'm working hard to get everything done, so bear with me!

Here's a preview to get things started. Isn't this little guy handsome!? We had so much fun. Keep checking back- there are several more to follow (several, as in nine more!)

This was my first opportunity to photograph a teen boy and he was a good one to start with! Isn't he handsome!? He and his mom were so much fun to work with. I did some different post processing to give some of them a more masculine look. I hope you like them. Aly

Mama's Boy

This little guy was sooooo good for his photo shoot. Most kids this age are all over the place, but he would stay wherever I put him. It was so much fun. I titled this post Mama's Boy because I could tell he was pretty fond of his mom! When she'd pick him up, he'd bury his head right into her chest and nestle down. It was the sweetest thing, and luckily I caught it on film! This is one of my favorites!

Do You Remember "My Little Bridge Runner?'

Back in November, I photographed this little fellow and I titled my blog post about our session, "My Little Bridge Runner." Well, he has grown a ton in the past 10 months and he is as cute as ever. I love watching the kids I've photographed grow-up. We had a ton of fun and we did an early morning shoot so the heat was bearable. Enjoy the little preview.
